Control a computer with ChatGPT using MapleMCP
MapleMCP gives ChatGPT a tool connection to computers you explicitly enroll. Instead of only explaining what you could do, the assistant can inspect the selected endpoint and use the capabilities you have allowed for that device.
How the connection works
Windows and Linux run an AI-facing agent. Android exposes mobile capabilities through the MapleMCP app and Android permission system.
The device is attached to your MapleMCP account after the verification flow, not merely because software was installed.
The MCP connection is authenticated to your account. ChatGPT receives the device and tool surface available to that authorization.
With multiple endpoints, the assistant can list available devices and operate on the one you select.
What ChatGPT can do on an enrolled desktop
Files
Read, write, create, inspect, move, and edit files inside the agent's configured allowed directories.
Search
Search allowed directories by filename or content without requiring terminal access.
Terminal and processes
Start commands, read command output, interact with managed sessions, inspect operating-system processes, and request process termination.
Diagnostics
Inspect MapleMCP configuration, system information, tool-call metadata, and other bounded diagnostic information exposed by the agent.
This is not an OS permission bypass
MapleMCP operates inside two permission layers: the capability groups selected in the MapleMCP account and the permissions the operating system grants to the local agent user. A terminal tool cannot magically elevate a standard Windows or Linux user. Android Advanced Control does not know or defeat a PIN, password, biometric, or lock screen.
Remote computer control without a traditional RDP session
Many troubleshooting and administration tasks do not require a streamed desktop. MapleMCP exposes structured operations directly to the AI, which can be more efficient for work such as locating a configuration file, reading a log, checking a process, editing a known file, or running an authorized command. Tasks that depend on a visual desktop may still require a visual-computer-control layer or another remote-access method.
Common questions
Can ChatGPT access my PC remotely?
Yes, if you explicitly enroll the PC in MapleMCP and authorize MapleMCP as an MCP connection for the same account. The assistant can only use the capabilities exposed for that device.
Does ChatGPT need to be running on the same computer?
No. The AI client and the enrolled endpoint can be on different systems because the MapleMCP connection is remote.
Can it run PowerShell or shell commands?
The Processes/terminal capability can start commands using the operating-system permissions of the MapleMCP agent user. Whether a particular command succeeds depends on those local permissions and the command itself.
Can it control more than one PC?
Yes. A MapleMCP account can have multiple enrolled endpoints, and the AI can list and target the authorized devices.
